Last Night's Project

Finally! My first fabric flower hair pin.

I chose a fabric that I thought would match my endlessly black wardrobe.

I cut a thick strip of fabric, folded it in half long ways, then gathered it into a flower shape and stitched.
I cut a smaller piece of fabric, folded that, gathered and stitched to give it a layer.
Added a button for the middle.
I actually had to add a few more stitches to make it shape right.

I then hot glued it to a black hair clip.

I tried to style my hair like the lovely photos I previously posted but it didn't work. So I left it down and clipped it on. You cant see it very well (that red splodge at the top of my head) but it looks pretty in real life :)

Weddings Love and Romance

I Love Weddings.
They are romantic.
Dreams come true.
Meeting that someone and promising each other forever is magical.

Recently, a friend of ours got married.
I have been wanting to do a series on weddings for ages, but my obsession with weddings has been something I have kept to myself. I have a stash of wedding magazines I have collected through the years and even though I have been married almost four years myself, I still love looking at wedding photography, the dresses, the decor and oh the flowers! Everything about weddings is just beautiful.

When I got married, it was pretty hectic. Shaun and I were sorting out the immigration headache, I had started a new job, we were moving house, my sister moved back to America which left me feeling 'lost', I was teaching two classes at church, and had begun a full-time MA course. I was kind of busy. A lot of things at my wedding were done VERY last minute. But it was still lovely and being a winter bride felt special. I can't help but keep track of my favourite ideas I have seen since my own wedding, maybe things I can do for future parties?

The only thing I can do right now personally is my hair. I posted about making fabric flowers and I will soon be making some to clip in my hair....

Here is what I am going for:

I think you get the idea...
Can you see the hearts in my eyes? I love it! x

My Version of the Fabric Flower

Fabric flowers are awesome. I have seen them on legwarmers, hair accessories, handbags, cardigans, belts, pillows, picture frames and just everywhere! Some of my favourites are these and these

They are super easy to make.
And they are super cute to look at.

I have fabrics, lace, thread, buttons, beads and a needle to handstitch it all together. I have a number of ideas in mind of what I want to do with them, but for now they are just floating around my sewing box.

Here are a few I have made:

Dino Hoodie

Months ago I had seen this dinosaur hoodie on Pinterest:

And knew I had to do the same for Ethan. I finally got around to doing it!

I actually never read the original tutorial but you can find it here

I simply cut out a small rounded triangle on paper first, then on the felt. I held the felt triangle upright as I hand sewed it on. I did while watching TV- an interview with Simon Cowell and Dragon's Den :)

Here was the start:

Ethan loved it and has been wearing it all day, playing with his dinosaurs and wearing his dino wellies. If he loves it then it was for sure a success!
