Don't Judge the Mother

Before I became a mother, I was guilty of judging mothers. I used to say things like, "when I have kids, I would never do that." Then I became one and all my stupid naive comments have come back to slap me in the face.

Don't judge the mother who goes to the mall with a crying toddler. She has errands to run and no babysitter.

Don't judge the mother who sits at the park and cries. She hasn't slept in weeks.

Don't judge the mother who ignores her toddlers temper tantrum. She's given up for the moment and has to recollect herself.

Don't judge the mother who suddenly snaps at her kid. We all get pushed to our limits.

Don't judge the mother who wears a mismatched outfit and her kid looks like he needs a bath. She's on survival mode.

Don't judge the mother who suddenly goes quiet and doesn't talk to anyone for a while. She is finding her place in the world.

Don't judge the mother who looks like she is spoiling her kid. She's trying to spare your ears from his crying until she gets home.

I've learned my lesson. Never judge the mother.

Father's Day

Ethan's Daddy "Rocks"! We love you Shaun! xx

I saw this idea on pinterest. I had found the picture frame at a boot sale for only 20pence! I already had the rocks in a vase on my dresser. I used blue tack to spell 'dad rocks' and sweet little ethan struggled with the heavy frame after a number of takes but he did well and the pictures turned out real cute. Shaun loved it!

Our Home Is...

A while back I was pondering on the importance of what kind of home we raise our children in. And I came up with the motto: "Our Home Is ___"

Each day we make decisions that influence the atmosphere in our home. We choose what kind of home we live in.

As we enter our home from the outside world, we choose what comes in. And maybe it changes all the time.

But we try don't we? We try to make our home a happy place. Where our children can laugh and play and feel safe and loved. Where their confidence can be strengthened. A place where they are taught respect, about responsibility and consequences, but also about forgiveness, compassion and kindness.

Today, our home is ...

My Larson Family Names

photo via pinterest

Before marriage, I remember thinking how good it would be to change my name to something easier to spell. Apparently there are like 100 different ways to spell "Bojesen". I married Shaun Larson. Great name. But names have brought about a lot more meaning, not just its spelling, since having kids.

When pregnant with Ethan, we chose his names not only for their cool sounding-ness, but also the definition of his name. I have a special love for my younger brother, and I wanted to connect the two of them as well. They share a middle name. It was all perfect. Ethan Alexander Larson.

Finding a name for this next little boy has proved difficult. Again, I believe definition and family connection is important. My husband and I have gone through our family history- many similar names are found in both of our families!- and we have spent endless evenings agreeing, disagreeing, joking, then changing our minds. I suppose I should admit here that I had hoped for a girl and we had her name chosen in stone. But I am happy and getting excited to have two boys.

For this little dude I picture two things. The first, how it looks on paper. The second, I imagine my two boys playing basketball on the court and shouting each other's names.  What do I hear Ethan saying?

I THINK we have a name. I hope to convince my husband of the name I think I want. But we will see when the little guy is born. Hopefully his birth announcement is soon because I am so done being pregnant!

How did you come up with your boys names? x
